International Exchange Programs
Japan
What Is 4-H International Japan Outbound Exchange?
- Delegates to Japan will have an opportunity to learn “hands-on” about its culture, by living with a host family. 4-H delegates stay throughout Japan, usually in cities. Youth who come to the U.S. on this exchange are hosted throughout Illinois.
- Delegates to Japan stay with families who are involved in one of two youth organizations that teach children and families English and other languages while learning about cultures: LABO International Exchange Foundation or Institute for Language Experiment, Experience and Exchange (LEX).
- American adult chaperones accompany the delegates and live in the same region of Japan where youth are assigned.
- Outbound dates are about July 12 through August 10; inbound hosting dates are approximately July 23 through August 19, 2007.
This Exchange Can Offer You:
- The joy of living with a family for four weeks in the “Land of the Rising Sun.”
- A method of learning another culture and life-style.
- A way to better understand the joys and challenges of another culture.
- A chance to discuss with peers of another culture such issues as culture, international economics, the environment, and your hopes for the world.
- The opportunity to develop long-lasting friendships, to become better informed on global issues and to better know and understand yourself.
