Camping: Camp Shaw-waw-nas-see
Dear Parents,
The Northern Illinois 4-H Camp Association,
composed of volunteers and University of Illinois Extension
professionals, owns Camp Shaw-waw-nas-see. In its 60th year
of operation, the camp summarizes its philosophy as
"Learning by Doing" in all areas of programs and group living.
Campers choose from activities conducted in six staffed
program areas: pool, crafts, recreation, nature, adventure
and farm as well as evening and camp-wide activities.
Youth campers benefit from a summer camp experience in many ways. Most
campers establish a greater sense of independence, responsibility, and self-confidence. Campers live, work, and play with others with diverse backgrounds of
race, creed, culture, age, disability, and gender. This experience will foster new
friends and create a greater appreciation for people and the natural environment.
Camp Shaw-waw-nas-see is accredited through the strict standards of the American Camping Association and meets their requirements for administration, personnel, programs, health care, and aquatics.
Please feel free to give us a call or to stop by and
see Shaw-waw-nas-see 4-H Camp for yourself. We look
forward to meeting you this summer!
