National 4-H Dairy Conference - 2006
This four-day event showcases the dairy industry for 4-H members
from across the country and Canada. The conference is held during
the World Dairy Exposition in Madison, Wisconsin, in late September.
Illinois delegates are selected to attend as State 4-H Award Winners
in Animal Science who specialize in Dairy projects.
4-H delegates who attend are exposed to new dairy science technology and dairy-related businesses and institutions. Through a combination of workshops, speakers, educational field trips and interaction with other dairy-oriented youth, 4-H members gain information they can use to strengthen their futures in the dairy industry. Delegates visit Craven Brothers Dairy, University of Wisconsin Dairy Science facilities, NASCO, the Dairy Shrine, the Hoard's Dairyman Publishing Company and the Hoard's Dairy Farm.
Illinois delegates are selected for this event by submitting the Illinois 4-H Award Application - Career Focus to State 4-H Award Judging in March. Applications must have been selected and approved on the county level in order to be nominated to the state selection process. The member's application must be submitted in a category for National 4-H Dairy Conference and can include experiences in dairy cows & heifers, dairy goats, and/or dairy foods. For more information, contact your local Extension office.

Representing Illinois in 2006 were chaperone Bonnie Ogle, 4-H volunteer and Eleanor St. John, State 4-H Award winner. Both are from Montgomery in Kendall County.
