We’re Throwing Out the Box!
Get creative! Challenge yourself! Expand your horizons! That’s what throwing out the box can mean to you at the 2006 Illinois 4-H Leadership Convention – ILC – June 23-25. We’ve planned an exciting weekend full of old and new friends, workshops, community service, top-notch entertainment, and outstanding speakers – all at the Decatur Conference Center & Hotel!
Our theme, What Box? We’re Throwing Out the Box!expresses the committee’s wish for you to learn new skills; improve yourself; participate in active learning sessions, build new teams and learn how to help older ones; and take something home to your communities. Whether you work with younger youth, your peers, or adults on a regular basis, this weekend’s program will help you accept, work as a team, discover different cultures, and be motivated and challenged.
The weekend isn’t all work – you’ll have a great time as the Army National Guard takes us through the paces of teambuilding and Kent Sorrells entertains us by hypnotizing some of our own (We bet you didn’t know you could dance like the Village People…).
Can’t stay the entire weekend? We’re offering a Saturday-only option at a discounted price! And scholarships are available for full-time participants or those interested in participating in specialty track workshops focusing on community issues.
Bring along a couple of friends – 4-H membership is not required to attend. ILC is open to all Illinois teens from 14-18 (by September 1, 2006).
You can register on-line here OR you can complete the registration form and mail to: 4-H ILC Registration, 302 E. John St. – Suite 1901, Champaign, IL 61820. Don’t forget that everything needs to be in the mail by the May 17 th deadline! This includes any payment by check or money order, the Emergency Medical Form, and the Code of Conduct & Media Release Authorization. Orientation materials will be sent to you after June 1.
Take the leap – throw out YOUR box at the 2006 ILC!
