National 4-H Council Elects Six Business and Academic Leaders to Board of Trustees

National 4-H Council Elects Six Business and Academic Leaders to Board of Trustees National 4-H Council President and CEO Donald T. Floyd, Jr. and Trustees Chairman Gary L. Davis announce the election of six business and academic leaders to Council's Board of Trustees.

The new board members include E. Kent Baker, President, Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath, Jacuzzi, Inc.; Nancy H. Bull, Associate Dean, Outreach and Public Service and Associate Director, Cooperative Extension System University of Connecticut; Dennis R. Campion, Director, Cooperative Extension Service, University of Illinois; Carlton L. Curtis, Vice President, Industry Affairs, Foodservice and Hospitality Division, Coca-Cola North America, The Coca-Cola Company; Carrie Goldin, Consumer Marketing Director, Teen People; and Kathy L. Warye, President, National Science & Technology Education Partnership. They were elected at the National 4-H Council Board of Trustees October meeting.

"National 4-H Council's Board of Trustees continues to seek and elect individuals who possess a passion for youth development and have demonstrated significant leadership in their profession. All six of our newly-elected Trustees bring to the Board a breadth of experience and a strong commitment to the 4-H movement," said Davis, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources and Administrative Officer, J.C. Penney Company, Inc.

Baker, a former Kansas 4-H'er, oversees the North American operations of Jacuzzi brand product lines. Prior to joining Jacuzzi, Baker was Chairman of Newton Manufacturing, President of Pella Plastics, and a member of the Maytag Corporation management team for 20 years. He has served multiple terms as a Trustee for the Iowa 4-H Foundation.

Dr. Bull has held her current position for eight years. She also has served as Assistant State Leader, Small Business Development, The Ohio State University; and Greene County, OH, Extension Agent. Bull has taught at the graduate, undergraduate, high school and junior high school levels. Her areas of research interest include critical thinking in adult learners and program evaluation. Dr. Bull is an active member of the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy. She has participated in the Harvard Institute for Management and Leadership in Education and the HERS Institute for Women in Higher Education Administration. She has a doctorate in Agricultural and Extension Education from The Ohio State University and master's and bachelor degrees from the University of Cincinnati.

Campion, a former Wisconsin 4-H'er, joined the United States Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in 1974. After a stint as the Assistant Director ARS for the Midwest, he joined the University of Illinois as Professor and Head of the Department of Animal Sciences in 1990. He was appointed Associate Dean, Extension and Outreach, College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences in 1998. Campion's research has earned him several awards including the Distinguished Research Award from the American Meat Science Association; USDA Certificate of Merit; and the Outstanding Faculty Research Award, Sigma Xi, University of Georgia. He has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Animal Science and has been an independent reviewer for numerous other journals.

Curtis joined the Coca-Cola Company in 1972 and has served in a variety of positions, including Vice President of Corporate Communications and Corporate Public Relations and Director of Worldwide Education Marketing. He was appointed Vice President and Executive Assistant to the President of Coca-Cola USA in 1997 and named Vice President and Executive Assistant to the President of The Coca-Cola Company in 2000. Curtis is the Immediate Past President of the University of Georgia Alumni Association and a Trustee of the University of Georgia Foundation.

Goldin joined Time Inc. in 1997. Prior to becoming Consumer Marketing Director for Teen People, Goldin served as Assistant Consumer Marketing Director and New Business Marketing Manager, Sports Illustrated Consumer Marketing, and as Subscription Marketing Manager for LIFE Consumer Marketing. She also has been an Analyst in the Change Management Division at Andersen/Accenture Consulting in New York. Goldin earned her master's degree in business administration from Columbia University and her bachelor's degree from Cornell University.

Warye joined the National Science & Technology Education Partnership (NSTEP), formerly the Electronic Industries Foundation, in 2000. NSTEP works to broaden the pipeline of U.S. science and technology talent through partnerships with the business and educational communities that develop and deliver innovative approaches to K-12 science and technology education. Warye also has served as Senior Vice President, Education and Government Programs, and Vice President, New Business Development, Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation and Senior Consultant with Corporate Learning Systems, an agent of The Wilson Learning Corporation. She has held senior management positions with the Special Libraries Association and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. She is a member of the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives, Technology Education Advisory Council of the International Technology Educators Association, American Society of Association Executives, and the Northern Virginia Technology Council.
