CSREES, the United States Army Child and Youth Services (CYS),
and the United States Air Force Family Member Programs (FMP) have
announced the availability of Military 4-H Club grants to support
county 4-H staff responsible for establishing 4-H clubs and programs
on installations worldwide. In this initial grant, priority was
given to states that have established working relationships with
military installation staff and are most ready to support military
4-H Clubs.
In the short time since the grant was announced June 23, 2003,
31 State 4-H Military Liaisons, who coordinate statewide 4-H support
to military installations applied. These applications demonstrated
that many strong partnerships already in place between 4-H and Army
and Air Force. They also provided wonderful examples of exciting
4-H club programs, professional development activities, and resource
sharing already happening. Because of this enormous response, monies
have been added to fund more than the original 18 states which were
announced at the Galaxy Conference in Salt Lake City. 25 states
listed below have been selected for funding.
Funding for 2003 Military 4-H Club Grants will be given to: North
Carolina, Georgia, Florida, California, Oklahoma, Arizona, South
Carolina, Missouri, Utah, Kansas, Colorado, New York, Washington,
Ohio, Nevada, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, Texas, Montana,
Illinois, New Jersey, Louisiana, and Guam.
