JUST WHAT IS CWF?
Citizenship Washington Focus is a week-long program that will provide you with many insights into the workings of our federal government. Through small group sessions, you’ll learn about federal legislation, the political parties, the Bill of Rights, and how to make a positive impact on your community at the National 4-H Center.

You’ll have appointments to meet with some of our Illinois Congressmen -- and you’ll share information with them about the University of Illinois Extension and 4-H program

You will also have the opportunity to take a riverboat cruise, see a theater performance, and tour various locations around Washington, including:

  • Arlington National Cemetary
  • FDR Memorial
  • Iwo Jima
  • Jefferson Memorial
  • Korean War Memorial
  • Lincoln Memorial
  • Mt. Vernon
  • Smithsonian
  • U. S. Capitol
  • Vietnam Veterans Memorial
  • Washington National Cathedral...and more!!

DELEGATE INFORMATION & POLICIES
Eligibility - 4-H Members must be 14-18 years of age by May 1, 2008. There is a limit of two delegates per county. (If a county has more than two young people interested, we will accept applications; however, acceptance of additional youth will not be made until after November 2.) Counties or units who provide scholarships to two or fewer members may allow others to attend who wish to pay their own way. The above policy still applies.

All positions are on a first-come, first-served basis. If all of the youth slots are filled before receiving a county’s applications, those delegates will not be accepted and will be placed on a waiting list. Delegates who have attended previously may not attend a second time.

Cost: Minimum cost will be $1015. An increase is possible, depending upon the number of delegates who register. The final cost will be determined after the November 2 initial deadline and sent to counties and accepted delegates.

This fee includes: CWF program registration; room and board at the National 4-H Center; most meals; and bus transportation to, from, and around Washington, D.C. For an entire week’s program - that price isn’t really all that expensive!

We will be taking only one bus to CWF. Therefore, space is limited.

Applications are due by November 2. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the spaces are filled. All registrations and payments should be sent to:
