This year, 44 clubs from across the state were selected for outstanding achievements in seven topic areas including agriculture, community involvement & global awareness, home & family, environment & natural resources, mechanics & technology, personal development, and food, nutrition & health. These clubs were recognized for their exceptional projects involving community service and leadership.
The 2002 Friend of 4-H award was presented to George Daigh of Champaign
County, for his numerous contributions to the program and for sponsoring
scholarships for 4-H youth. The Illinois Electric Council (IEC) and the Illinois International 4-H
Youth Exchange (IFYE) Association were named 4-H Partners. Both organizations
have long partnered with the 4-H Program. Approximately 700 4-H members, leaders, parents, and volunteers from
across the state helped celebrate 4-H Day at the University of Illinois.
